This blog is a work of fiction, intended to portray the struggles the first Mars colonists will face. It is intended to be a collaborative work of fiction. If you would like to write the journal of a Nerio Prime colonist, please contact me.

About the mission

In 2011, a group of determined individuals launched for Mars. When they landed on the 5th of May (the 50th anniversary of the first American in space), they began to construct the first colony on the Red Planet, and named it Nerio Prime. Nerio was the consort of the god Mars in Roman mythology, and was considered to be the personification of valour and courage.

The motto of the mission is "Ad Veritae Per Virtute," which translates roughly as "To Truth Through Courage."

The crew is made up of men and women from all walks of life, with the single goal of creating a new human community on the Red Planet. There are scientists, mechanics, psychologists, and more. "Human society as we know it can never consists solely of scientists," commander Clara Morgan explains. "We believe that diversity in community is essential to the success of this colony, and to the success of humanity in general."
